- 4.7-Liter V8 The new 2008 Dakota is unleashing the new 4.7-liter V8 — the only V8 option in its segment — incorporating two spark plugs per cylinder, an increased compression ratio, improved cylinder-head port flow, and a new combustion system. The result is 302 horsepower, 329 lb.-ft. of torque, and better fuel economy for work or play. And on the greener side of things, the 4.7-liter FFV V8 is E85[2] capable, making it a Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV) when properly equipped.
- 3.7-Liter V6 Power: It comes standard on Dakota. At its heart is a fuel-efficient 3.7-liter Magnum® V-6 engine, providing 210 horsepower and 235 lb.-ft. of torque. The power doesn't stop there. This engine features Electronic Throttle Control for positive throttle response and exhaust gas recirculation to help lower emissions.
Dakota hooks you up with best in class maximum available towing capability — up to 7.050 lbs. when properly equipped. And with Dakota's most standard payload in its class, you can tow your big toys with confidence.
Interior
Beauty isn't only skin-deep. Dakota's interior is refined for comfort, functionality and style. White-faced electroluminescent gauges turn blue at night for improved driver visibility and glare-free driving. Radio and temperature controls are encased by painted aluminum alloy (standard on SLT and TRX) or painted silver (standard on Sport and Laramie) trim. Accent stitching complements your fabric choice and a padded armrest provides extra comfort.
Stay safe, get connected. The available UConnect® hands-free communication system lets you make voice-activated calls on a Bluetooth®-compatible phone, while keeping your focus on the journey ahead. The rearview mirror microphone picks up your voice, while the radio mutes automatically and the other caller is audible through Dakota's speakers.
